I did these sort of at the same time – working on a block of one and then a block of the other one, so that they’d mostly be the same size. I had two 7DPNs and two 8 DPNs, and I just rotated them as I worked. The gloves were coming out way too big with the recommended 10s.
I really like how the thumb was done on this pattern as opposed to the other gloves I’ve done in the past. There weren’t any gusset increases—rather, they have you do it as an afterthought thumb, knitting the stitches with scrap yarn and then knitting back over them with regular yarn. This way there are less stitches to pick up when you go to knit the thumb later because you have open stitches on the bottom AND top of the thumb hole.
If these weren’t ribbed, though, they’d probably still need a gusset. I wonder if there’s a set of gloves out there that has the gusset but still does the afterthought thumb?
