I’m impressed with myself, because I finished the actual knitting part of Chianti in less than a week. It’s a REALLY quick knit. As far as I can tell, it works up similar to Citron, only it has sections of lace that make it seem to go faster. At least for me. :)
This is a bridesmaid gift for one of my bridesmaids. I had her pick a color and approve a pattern, and then I made it happen. She doesn’t get it until March, though.
A lot of people reported running out of yarn while making this shawl, so I dropped 2 rows of stockinette in each section except the last section. I bound off with the normal knitted bind off because for some reason sea silk really disliked the k2tog bindoff I usually use for stretchiness. I used a crochet hook to do it though, because it’s easier for me that way. :) And quicker.
The dropped rows were a success, by the way. I ended up with about 20 or so yards left.

You shouldn’t envy it. The front’s the biggest pain in the arse ever.

Beautiful. The colours and drape are making me drool a little, and I love the unblocked photo where it looks vaguely tentacle-y, too. And awesome thinking, dropping some rows to avoid running out of yarn. I’m like, distance high-fiving you for that one.

I figure if I am going to make them drop a few hundred bucks to be in the wedding, and then make them put up with me during the planning, the least I could do is not give them a crappy gift they’ll never use.

That is stunning! She will treasure it, I’m sure. I am beginning to fall in love with these semi-circle shawls. I just made a Summer Flies shawl which I made a little deeper. The half circles seem very easy to wear, don’t they?

Really lovely! I love the way it’s draped in different ways in your pics. Adding this one to my to list.

Very pretty, impressive that something with lace you could do in a week? Wow, I’m thinking thin yarn it would take me quite some time.

Shawls usually take me at least 3-4 weeks, so I was surprised, too.

Gorgeous shawl! I love that Morgana colorway and it looks beautiful on you. I had to go favorite it! Thanks for the tip about possibly running out of yarn.
