Wildflower Meadow Shawl

This was a mystery shawl that started in June, 2009. I managed to keep up with clue releases until clue 4, and then I fell behind and eventually gave up on the shawl altogether until August 2010, when I motored on it and finished it for my birthday.

Miniature Knitting

Coraline

Did you know that Coraline’s star sweater, as well as various other articles of clothing in the movie, were hand-knitted?  They were made by the extremely talented Althea Crome, and what she creates and how she goes about it are amazing! You can read a nice, long interview with Althea over at OregonLive.com, or view more of her work on her personal site, Bugknits.

Here’s a video that gives you an idea about what she has to do to complete one of her miniature projects.

Crocheted Animal Sculptures

Since sometimes I’m lazy about posting my finished objects here, but I still spend a bit of every day looking at knit and crochet projects online, I thought I’d start posting fantastically amazing, amazingly fantastic finds here.  This IS a raveling blog, after all, and everyone needs a bit of inspiration!

Obviously this is the first of such posts, which I am lovingly calling “Ravelry in the Wild” because I feel like it.

Today’s find features Shauna Richardson’s animal sculptures. Shauna’s been commissioned to crochet three giant lion sculptures to celebrate London 2012, and you can see why!  Click the picture below to see more examples of her work and watch a video about the Lionheart Installation.
