Rip It Good

Pixie Shoulderette

Wish Todd had mentioned that little bare spot in my hair so I could cover it.

I was going to feature one of my scarves today, but since everyone commented that they couldn’t wait to see the shrug, you guys get the shrug! You may thank Todd for being my photographer for this piece.

From the front!

The criss-crosses took a little bit to do. They’re done with making a bunch of yarn overs, then immediately dropping them, laying them out of the floor, and painstakingly crossing them over each other and putting them back on the needles all while keeping the loops from being distorted in size. I was relieved to finally get those back on the needles, let me tell you!

The yarn I used for this is discontinued, but you can still find it on Ebay for a pretty good price. It’s stretchy and slippery though, and a real pain to mattress-stitch up. And both arms need to be mattress-stitched up, so be ready to curse a lot if you decide to make this shrug.  Of course, I’m ready to curse a lot at everything I make. I figure it’s a remnant of being a girl scout for a bit as a kid. Be prepared!
