Mochilito Scarf

I sadly did not win any prizes for the KAL I entered this into, but I got this yarn for free as it is, so no big deal. And I have a second ball for gloves!

Blocked to about 5’ x 6.5”, but the edges curl up a bit so you really see the cable and not the 4 end stitches, so probably closer to 6” wide.

Initially tried to do this with a size 7 needle, but it came out like mess, so I ripped it and started over on a 6.

The yarn was interesting to work with, with lots of thick and thin variations to the one ply it has. I was afraid it’d break a few times, but it never did. And it’s super soft and easy on the hands.

I’m feeling way too ill this week to try to organize my image gallery better for you. In fact, I shouldn’t be sitting up to write this post, but I just tried to eat some chicken soup so I’m afraid to lie down again lest I re-visit my meager dinner.

Bleh. Worst stay-cation ever. Who wants to spend their vacation sick? I could barely stand up for my wedding dress resizing, and then I got nothing else done. T_T

Anyway, here’s some pretties, minus captions because I don’t feel like it. So there.

Go to Tami’s Amis to see what other people finished this week!

  1. It looks great :) I love mini mochi, but I know what you mean about the thick and thin patches (I also had a ball where the yarn did come apart in my hands!)

  2. The scarf is fabulous. I’m sorry you are so under the weather. Rest up and I hope you feel better.

  3. Looks great, Calophi! I hope you are feeling better…A few years ago I spent the first two days of my vacation with a norovirus…not fun at all!

  4. Hooray for gorgeous scarves! Boo for being sick! Hope that you feel better soon, and are up to making matching gloves. I LOVE the mini mochi — for me the spectacular colors and squishy softness outweigh the thick-thin bits and the splittiness. It’ll keep you warm and cozy this winter!

  5. Get better soon.

Love the scarf. The colours are beautiful.

  15. Ugh, so sorry you’re sick for your staycation. :( I hope you’re feeling better soon, but in the meantime, at least you have a completely gorgeous finished scarf? I love the way the colours work with that leafy-lacy pattern. And I’m glad the yarn never broke on you as you worked! That seems like a good omen for the gloves-to-come.

(Also, re: the squid who was presiding over my finished washcloth, the pattern for said squid is here on Craftster if you want to make one!)
