This is the third bridesmaid gift out of four, all nice and blocked! It was a a fun knit, but it is gonna be a LONG time before I make one again because blocking it totally sucked.
It blocked out to almost 5 feet by around 2.5 feet. If I was better at blocking I’d have pulled it out further than the triangle shape a bit more. There are places around the edges that really could have been stretched better.
I used the alternate shortened edging with this shawl, and was left with only a wee bit of yarn left. I did the bind off the regular way because of lack of yarn and also because the k2tog bindoffs look like crap with the sea silk for some reason, and aren’t stretchy. I did use a bigger crochet hook though to make it easier for me. Hooks are easier to bind off with than needles, in my opinion.
Go to Tami’s Amis to see what other people finished this week!

Thanks for the notes on blocking. This is on my list for December knitting, so I will be sure to remind myself to refer to your blog when done. Simply lovely!

I am in love with this!! Blocking lacy things is always a challenge, I’m getting better at it….slowly.

Oh wow, that turned out beautifully. I can’t stop staring at the first photo, the elegant laciness of it is perfect. I know I’ve said this before, but it keeps on being true—your bridesmaids? The luckiest bridesmaids ever. My mom was a bridesmaid a lot in the 60s/70s, and all she ever got were like…monogrammed pins. A work-of-art handknit shawl? Worlds better.
I’m sorry this gorgeous thing gave you blocking trouble, though. I’ve actually just started a shawl that will be my first ever real-blocking project if I finish it, and I’m a little nervous about the blocking bit!

Great googly moogly! Can I be one of your bridesmaids? That is utterly spectacular.

This one is for my maid of honor. She’s the only one that gets beads. :)
