You guys tired of seeing me use this pattern yet? Tough. I still have a bunch of ’em to post, ha HA!

Need a hand?

This was the third pair of mitts I made, and of course it’s once again heavily modified. The cable comes from somewhere within Harmony Guides: Cables & Arans, but I never noted what page it was on. It is a much bigger cable than the one Sharon originally wrote in the pattern. Because of that, after I stuck the thumb gusset on a stitch holder and did a few rounds and tried them on, it pulled on the design something fierce. Therefore, this is the first pair of gloves that I did not do symmetrically as written, and I pushed the cable over a bit away from the thumbs.

Of note, I did these as a request for my pole dance instructor, and I was paid $20 for them. Totally worth it, especially considering I had to rip the darn things once. I wouldn’t charge that much for a pair of these in acrylic yarn, though, and I think I’d charge more if the yarn included something like silk or angora. I think it’s a fair price for a super soft merino wool, though!

Go to Tami’s Amis to see what other people finished this week!

  1. I love that cable pattern, very pretty :)

  2. That is a very beautiful cable! And definitely a fair price. It’s hard to charge enough to pay for the time and care that goes in to a hand knit, but it’s nice to get a little something to help pay for stash!

  3. I don’t think I could get sick of fingerless mitts. I was wearing mine in the house today it was so cold. It started me thinking I need to make a better pair. I love yours, and that you sold them. That’s great!

  4. Love that you sold them. That is a very fair price. People ask me all the time to knit them things but they don’t realize how much work it really is.

  5. Hmmmm, I never tire of seeing that pattern!!! LOL!!!! So glad you got some extra cash too!
