KCBW 2012 #1: Colour Lovers

Trying to get back into the swing of things with Knit and Crochet Blog Week, and today’s prompt has to do with colors!

I tend to buy lots of earthy colors. Browns and greens, oranges and reds. Sometimes I will go out of my way to pick up a blue or purple, but I always gravitate back to the earth tones. They just appeal to me more. Here’s a picture of my best sock and lace yarn, sort of grouped by color. Definitely a distinct lack of dark blues and purples, though you can see a couple of those from when I went out of my way to get them.

One sort of exception is when I see purple and green yarn – or more closely, fuchsia and lime green. You can see I have a couple of those variegated/striped in there. You may blame Jeremy Rodden for this. Back in the day he ran an internet game and the colors of the website were fuchsia and lime green. Now that game is a book series, but the old site colors have warped my color sense and made that combo appealing to me. :)

  1. Beautiful collection!

  2. …I don’t even have a good excuse for liking fuchsia/lime green together. I just do. ;)

I also like seeing your yarn all laid out like that, I want to come squish the skeins!

  3. Lovely colours – and so very different from the colours I tend to knit! I think lime and fuchsia look gorgeous together… in fact I might need some :)

Here’s my post on the same topic: http://www.craftsfromthecwtch.co.uk/2012/04/kcbw-day-1-colour-lovers.html

  4. I love you in those earthy colors – they go so well with your red hair – just perfect!

  5. I love your blog name. I love your stash too! Eskimmi week is going to be fun, I’ll be following you. It is a great way to find new blogs

  6. droolworthy yarn stash! I’ve never been a fan of earth colours, i think they just dont suit me. But I’ve always been jealous of people who can pull them off!

  7. You have a good, solid stash! There is a bit of everything in there.
