Mouse/Rat Amigurumi

Front and Side

Front and Side

I was poking about for a good rodent amigurumi and I just didn’t like any of the free ones I found. So I’ve modified a pattern and made one of my own!

I think if I tweak the ears and invent a new tail this could also be used for a chinchilla. Any interest?

This is a modification of Lion Brand’s Penguin Amigurumi pattern and will refer to it often.

Please note that I do all circles using the magic circle method. Feel free to substitute Lion Brand’s method if you are more comfortable with it.

US Size G Hook
two 9mm safety eyes
large needle to weave in ends

Abbreviations

ch = chain

Attach the safety eyes on either side of the nose where you think they look good. In the example shown, they are in between rows 9 and 10.

Finish the body as per Lion Brand’s pattern.

With B:
Crochet the feet as per Lion Brand’s pattern up to and including row 3. Finish off, leaving long tail for sewing.

    • Wow, thanks so much! Was totally not expecting anyone from Lion Brand to come calling!

      The penguin pattern is so easy that even a beginner can learn to crochet from it. There’s a good chance that I’ll use that base for other animals in the future so that everyone will be able to make them.

  4. Love the Mouse/Rat~ make it in pink, with a hog nose and tail, and it would be a great pig/hog too.

  5. That is SO cute! I love the little feet. I just came across your blog via Free Amigurumi Patterns. I would love to link to this if you didn’t mind.
