First up, the list of progress that are for other posts!
- Finished a hat and cowl (I mentioned this in Sunday’s post as well)
- Blocked my veil, but it isn’t on the comb yet
- 3 blocks for the war against wips afghan completed
And now for what you really came for: some pretties!
This is just a stockinette blanket with a garter stitch border. The border’s uneven but too bad I’m not taking it out, haha! I have no idea how big it’ll turn out, just gonna knit it until the yarn’s gone. It’s the Bernat Breeze from the prize I won from Witchyknits. :)
I made a lot of progress on the Adelei Shawl. All six panels are in and I’m through the boring stockinette section and into the much more difficult lace.
I’m at the point I get to in every shawl where I worry about whether it’s taking up too much yarn. Judging by other shawls I should be fine, but you never know.
The iPhone decided it was going to be awesomely true to color and take the best pictures ever of the shawl, so I also got a nice close-up for you guys.

Love that shawl. Can’t wait to see it finished. Would love to see the veil when done, I can’t imagine taking that on.

AWESOME
I love blankets that are so nice and simple, serious tv knitting.
Don’t you just love it when your phone decides to take accurate pictures. I have to admit I am too bone idol to get the digital camera out anymore.
Love your shawl. Such a pretty colour and pattern.

The blanket colours look lovely. Sometimes a whole whack of stockinette is a nice change to a complicated lace pattern, isn’t it?

The shall is looking lovely, i like the shade of purple you are using for it. Although I have noticed alot of people having to block them…what happens to the shawl if you dont do this?

Blocking is a normal process of making a shawl when you are knitting it out of natural fibers. Most of the time your stitches are sort of scrunched up and it is hard to see the pattern. So you soak your piece and then stretch it out and pin it, and then the fibers remember how you stretched it and stay that way, opening up the design. If you don’t block a shawl, it doesn’t HURT the shawl, but you’re probably going to lose pattern definition as well as length and width.
